In July, Biblica Ethiopia teamed up with Scripture Union Ethiopia to hold two Reach4Life (R4L) trainings for youth and students in Addis Ababa. These sessions brought together young people from different churches, schools, and neighbourhoods for a fun and interactive time focused on the Bible. During the trainings, everyone got to dive into the R4L New Testament and talk about important topics like who we are in Christ, making good choices, building healthy relationships, and staying pure.
From the very start, the energy in the room was amazing! The peer-education style, along with real-life stories and open conversations, made it easy for students to ask tough questions and talk about real challenges. Many were surprised to see how the Bible could help with their everyday problems. They left the training not only with their own R4L New Testament, but also with a new excitement to live by God’s Word and share it with their friends.
The feedback from the students was encouraging. They said the training helped them see how God’s Word connects to every part of life, and many wished they had learned these things sooner. They also appreciated the honest talks about purity and said they now feel more ready to make wise choices. One youth leader said that more trainings like this are needed in other places, because so many young people are making big life decisions without knowing what the Bible says.
Leaders from Scripture Union Ethiopia were also grateful. They said the program met a felt need for discipleship and gave them a great model to use for youth ministry. They liked how practical the R4L materials are, how easy it is to train peer leaders, and how much the youth enjoyed learning from the Bible in a way that makes sense to them.
The July training in Addis Ababa shows what can happen when young people get the Bible in a way they can understand and relate to. The seeds planted at these gatherings are already growing. Scripture Union is now including R4L in more events, even in other parts of the country. This is exactly what Biblica hopes for: young people who are excited to share God’s Word and make a difference in their communities.
